Notice of Flushing Water Lines

Notice to Customers - Hilmar County Water District

Water Main Flushing is scheduled for Monday, December 8, 2025, through Friday, December 12, 2025.  Annual flushing is a normal and required maintenance activity necessary to improve water quality by removing sedimentation and deposits in water mains. This scheduled flushing also prepares the system for our new well to come online. Flushing (primarily through fire hydrants) stirs up sediment and loosens some mineral deposits in the pipes.  Normally, this process will not affect most customers; however, in some cases temporary discoloration of water and sediment can be observed. There is no health risks associated with the discoloration or sediment, which may last a day or two.  During this time, customers may want to refrain from doing laundry (to prevent discoloration), and they should remove any water filters from their filtration systems (to prevent damage).

Should you notice discoloration in your water, run an outdoor faucet for about 5 minutes to help remove any remaining debris from the service line before using indoor water fixtures.

If you have questions or would like more information, please call 209-632-3522. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
